TOOLS FOR YOUR PRODUCTIVITY · NOTEPAD

An open canvas for your thoughts.

Capture an idea before it disappears. Thugtools Notepad is a borderless writing canvas where you can draft in Markdown, read a formatted preview, and keep your notes close to your tasks and plans.

Open notepad

Write freely in Markdown

Use the notepad for meeting notes, brainstorming, rough outlines, or a daily work log. The writing area grows as your note gets longer, allowing the page to scroll naturally instead of confining your thoughts to a small input box.

Markdown lets you add structure while you write. Use # for a heading, - for a bullet list, **text** for emphasis, and backticks for code. The editor keeps your Markdown source visible while the preview displays its formatting.

Choose Write, Split, or Preview

Write keeps your attention on the note. Split places the source and formatted result side by side so you can see the document take shape as you type. Preview gives you a clean reading view.

These views are available beneath the Notepad tab. Switch between them as your note moves from a rough draft to something you want to review. Your content remains the same across all three views.

Save locally and download Markdown

The note saves automatically in your current browser. You can leave the notepad and return to it without creating an account. It is one continuous note, rather than a library of separate documents.

Choose Download to export the note as notepad.md. Keep a downloaded copy for important notes, or paste the content into Plans when you want to turn a draft into a task-linked document.

How to get started

  1. Open Notepad and start typing on the writing canvas.
  2. Add Markdown headings, lists, or emphasis when you need structure.
  3. Choose Split to view formatting while you write, or Preview to read.
  4. Download a Markdown copy when you want to keep or move your note.

Example: turn a work log into a plan

Start a note with a heading for today, list the ideas you want to explore, and add a short summary as you work. When a draft becomes a concrete project, copy it into Plans and link the saved plan to its next task.

Where your work is saved

Your work is saved locally in the browser and device where you create it. There is no account or cross-device sync. Clearing site data removes your saved work. Download important plans and notes as Markdown to keep a separate copy.
